1. The Brief
Smiths is a premium coffee and tea supplier based in the UK whose goal was to launch their new brand online and sell their great coffee and tea products directly to
consumers and fellow coffee lovers. The store interface had to be intuitive and ensure that potential coffee buyers were not confused when selecting the correct coffee options such as grind and roast when placing
orders. This requirement for a great customer online experience was made doubly
important by the fact that Smiths are a new company entering a fierce market place and needed to ensure the online store was an enabler for building their brand.
2. The Solution
Modika developed a fully bespoke E-Commerce solution for Smiths which allowed us greater flexibility when developing both the client facing website and the back office solution. An intuitive front end was created to ensure minimal clutter and highly visible select mechanisms and action buttons. Additionally, JQuery was used to make the frontend even more responsive by enhancing certain elements and allowing users a greater degree of interactivity.
The back office solution was both robust and feature rich, ensuring Smiths administrative staff had full control over categories, products, shipping and discounts as well as other functionality requested.
3. The Result
Since release the Smiths website has enjoyed month on month growth in both sales and repeat custom. This early success has helped Smiths establish its brand amongst the coffee drinking community. Both Modika and Smiths are keen to ensure this success continues so even after release out involvement continues with usability reviews and tests and a revisable roadmap to ensure the website evolves and continues to meet the high expectations of ifs customers.
